Miss W’s Hype Girl Boudoir Experience
Miss W is a long time customer and friend, and I am so grateful that she decided to share her Hype Girl experience!
She ALSO opted to add on our outdoor set, so I am very excited to show you her photos! Our outdoor set is one of my absolute favorite things. It adds an extra hour and a half onto your session AND you get two additional outfits- all for only $150 additional! It adds an entirely different vibe to your session, and I just love the beauty of the outdoors.
What made you decide to do a boudoir session?
I needed to see some sort of beauty in myself...needed to step out of my comfort zone and shock myself back into life. I'd been through a lot and many were telling me how well I was handling things, how strong I was, how inspiring, but all I felt was shattered, numb, invisible and ugly. I decided to do two sessions, one at 49 & one at 50 and of course to lose weight in between so I'd be able to see & document my progress.
What made you decide to hire me as your photographer?
Given the dichotomy between how I felt about myself vs what people were telling me, I deeply resonated with a line on the Rebel website: "You deserve to see the beauty in you others do". It's what sealed the deal that boudoir is what I would do. I'd emailed back and forth with Tiffany prior to then so even though once I made the decision, I looked at a few other photographers more local to me (I live out of state) . I didn't feel the same connection nor did I resonate with anything on their websites the way I did Hype Girl’s. I knew that it was Hype Girl or nobody!
How did you feel about the consultation?
Lol! I had kind of a rolling consultation. I kept coming up with more questions and Hype Girl staff were always generous and supportive with their time and suggestions, very open to whatever I wanted to try and what they'd suggest if there was anything that needed to be adjusted. I was nervous about clothes, they had suggestions...about my weight, they reassured me I'd be fine...about location...more suggestions. It was awesome. I felt comfortable and supported long before my session.
How were you feeling the week leading up to your session?
As this was my second session with Tiffany (wait..third - I also did a mini session on the Key West girls trip), I was more excited than anything else. I was looking forward to the drive, to seeing the session, to choosing from the client closet...using the wings...seeing the studio...plus working with Tiffany is always a blast. We laugh and chat & lose track of where we put things. It's a great time!
Now that you've had your own photo shoot, how was it?
It was AMAZING!! Tiffany helped me select stuff from the client closet and match it with what I'd brought, and think out what I wanted to wear when and in what room. She is excellent and both giving you directions and putting you at ease. We were laughing so much I'm surprised no pics were out of focus (she's a professional y'all). Even though we'd discussed full nudity before my session & that day while planning my outfits, when I was actually posing nude Tiffany made sure I was both comfortable in what she was asking me to do and fully aware that if I wasn't I could speak up and say so. I really appreciated that. I cannot stress enough how all the Hype Girl staff I've interacted with somehow make everything you do with them or ask feel both professional and like chatting with old friends. The effort they put into making sure you are comfortable and cared for is just beyond excellent. I love them!!
How did you feel about having your hair and makeup done?
I am always nervous getting my hair and makeup done because I do not usually wear makeup and I'm used to stylists (especially ones styling me for the first time) to want to blowout or flat iron my hair. So it was a pleasant surprise that this stylist asked (*ASKED*) did I want to leave my hair natural or straighten it. I still want a product list & instructions for everything she used - it doesn't look like that when I do it. Because I trust Hype Girl I just let the makeup artist do her thing and I loved the results! I was thrilled that I could look in the mirror and recognize that I was glammed up but still recognize myself. I could lie and say this will make me wear make up more often but the the ore accurate statement would be that I'll be far less anxious the next time someone else does it for me.
Is there anything I could do that would make this experience completely perfect?
One of my favorite moments for this session was when Tiff and I realized we'd both skipped breakfast, so we sat and took a break and had hot pockets. I wouldn't so much suggest hot pockets but maybe snacks that can be eaten without messing up makeup - like fruit on toothpicks. Aside from that an in-person session with Hype Girl feels like as much of a safe place as the VIP page is. I recommend y'all to everybody!
What was going through your head seeing your images for the first time?
"Oh WOW!! That's ME!" I had wanted these pics to show a transformation, to show significant weight loss. But even though I hadn't (still haven't) lost the weight I'd wanted to they still show a transformation. I am so much more comfortable in my skin and at peace now than when I did my first session. I hadn't realized how much of that could be captured on film. Tiffany is amazing. Her pictures always capture a side of me I either hadn't seen or didn't realize was visible to others. My expressions in some of these show a confidence I didn't realize I had regained, and a joy I never expected to return. I'm grateful to have both captured on film.
Do you feel like the flow I did during the reveal helped you?
The flow during the reveal helped SO MUCH!! It gave me a foundation to go back to when I needed to pick pictures and assign them to products. I could use the questions you asked and the flow you did to go back through all of my sessions or just one. It helped when I was torn between pictures/products. That's why I knew when I had questions about my final wall art choices. I knew I could come back and ask, do another whole reveal, and get my questions answered.
Btw, the app that let me preview what my pics would look like on the wall was excellent. It really helped me decide not just what to get but what to put where. Thank you!!
Miss W is such a ray of sunshine. Every consult, session, reveal, and appointment is like reuniting with a new friend! I am so grateful that she shared her Hype Girl testimony for you all to read.
