Boudoir Myths BUSTED
When thinking about booking a boudoir session, we get nervous. And when we get nervous, we start to make excuses and dig for reasons why not to take the leap.
We find reasons not to love ourselves. Life gets so busy, work gets overwhelming, and it feels like we're always needed somewhere else. Sometimes, we’re convinced that taking care of others is more important than filling our own cups.
We tell ourselves things like "I need to lose 15 pounds first" or "I just don’t have the money right now."
I wrote this Boudoir Myth Busters blog to show you that no matter what’s worrying you, you can absolutely do a boudoir session! Let me prove to you that, despite everything life is throwing at you, you are truly deserving of self-love.
You are worth it, just as you are.
I just don’t have enough time for myself.
It’s so important to remember that if you’re not taking care of yourself mentally, you won’t be able to take care of everyone else. It makes sense, but I know it’s so much easier said than done! Sometimes, I’m the worst at making sure I take mental health breaks, and that’s why I think it’s so important to share this with you. I make the same excuses as above, and sometimes I need someone to look me in the face and say, “Slow down, give yourself a break, and take a breath.”
A boudoir session gives you that chance to breathe, take a break, and just love yourself for a few hours. Think of all the energy you’d save daily if you stopped comparing yourself to others or worrying about what people think of how you look. You’d get to see where your beauty really comes from, lifting such a huge mental weight! You need to take time for yourself, so why not spend it having an amazing time and getting pampered?
I don’t look like a model/I’m not the weight I want to be
Did you know that the body type shown in stereotypical Victoria’s Secret models and what society and advertising portray as perfect only represents about 5% of American women? I will say this over and over again: why do you have to be a certain size to love yourself? Why do you have to fit into one specific mold that a stranger decided was pretty once upon a time? Why are we always comparing our size to everyone else's when literally no two women are the same?
I think it’s amazing to have goals and work to achieve them, but does that mean you can’t love your body and work towards those goals? Absolutely not! Your body has carried you through your entire life, and it deserves love every step of the journey. Be proud of where you are so that you can be proud of where you’re going. Have a boudoir session to celebrate where you are right now, and let’s plan one for the future to celebrate your journey further along!
I never feel sensual or beautiful anymore, so I don’t think I’m the right person for a session.
WRONGGGG! That is exactly WHY you deserve a session! Oftentimes, we lose touch with our femininity or sexuality when life gets crazy—because of health, kids, work, family, and the list goes on. It happens a lot, and it’s absolutely normal and okay! A great way to reconnect with this side of ourselves is to have a boudoir session. It can reignite that spark within you. I can show you that you still have it inside you. You are still the beautiful, fun, brave, badass woman you’ve always been!
Another thing to remember is that you don’t have to wear super sexy or revealing clothes and lingerie. If that doesn’t feel like you, there are so many different outfit ideas! I personally love a cozy, casual look—it’s a beautiful way to enhance your natural beauty in everyday outfits. If you need ideas, we can totally chat more about alternatives to lingerie!
I don’t have the money for this kind of investment right now.
I’m not going to lie, my boudoir experience isn’t necessarily cheap. It’s an investment in yourself. You’re investing in your well-being, confidence, and a constant reminder that you have the power to do something incredible! That being said, we offer super flexible payment plans to help break down your product order. You can also book your session with a retainer instead of the full session fee, with the remainder due the week before the session. If you have any questions about our payment plans, send us a message, and we can chat more!
