Body Hair & Boudoir: Your Guide to Hair Removal & Local Jax Fl Spots to Get It Done
Let’s get one thing straight right away: body hair is completely normal. Whether you love to keep things natural or prefer a smoother look, you’ve got options—and there’s no right or wrong way to show up for your boudoir session. Trust me, I don’t even shave myself, so this is 100% a safe space for all grooming preferences!
That said, if you are thinking about removing some hair before your session, it’s important to know what works best for you. After all, we want you to feel comfortable and confident when you step in front of the camera. So, let’s talk about the different types of hair removal and my top tips for making the process as smooth as possible (pun intended ).
Hair Removal Options
1. Shaving
This is the quickest and easiest option for most people, but here’s the thing: if you’re planning to shave before your session, follow the golden rule: exfoliate, shave, moisturize. We recommend shaving the day before your shoot to avoid any last-minute irritation. Also, go for a fresh razor to get the closest shave possible!
2. Waxing
Waxing can be a great option if you want longer-lasting results. If this is your go-to, make sure you’re starting your waxing routine 3-4 months before your session. This way, you can work out any kinks and avoid surprise reactions or irritation. Pro tip: the more often you wax, the lighter and softer your hair grows back!
3. Sugaring
Sugaring is similar to waxing, but with a more natural approach. It uses a sugar-based paste to remove hair and can be a gentler option for sensitive skin. Just like with waxing, we recommend starting this process a few months in advance and following your esthetician’s schedule for the best results.
4. Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is a more permanent option, but it’s a commitment! If you’re thinking about this route, keep in mind that it takes multiple sessions over several months. If your boudoir session is more than six months away, this might be a great option for you. Otherwise, it’s not the best quick fix.
What NOT to Do
Whatever method you choose, do not try something new right before your session. If you’ve never waxed or sugared before, this is not the time to experiment. Stick with what your skin knows and loves to avoid redness, bumps, or irritation on your big day.
